It generates a build diagram, parts list and you can design box art and have the complete set mailed to you.

My very first (not purchased, just goofing) project was a Limo. Total steps 63, total cost was about $70.

I need to deconstruct some LEGO designed cars to see how I can improve and maybe make it cooler and cheaper.

But if you like LEGO, the design tool is pretty cool and it's FREE!
