I wish I could do this. I certinaly see downsides to it though.

Growing up, several die-hard [Party A] relatives were registered with [Party B] so they could vote for weaker candidates in [Party B's] primary.

I think in your state, you might get a decent amount of this, due to the lack of commitment required to the decision.
