Also one involves addiction to a chemical substance. The other is addiction to a certain behaviour.

Which in some circles isn't an addiction at all, but rather is symptomatic of a jerk. If he had gone to an addiction clinic for being addicted to showing lack of respect/compassion for his wife, I could buy that.
But he didn't because one doesn't exist. "It wasn't because I don't respect you honey, it's because I was addicted to sex." I agree with the Jim, what a crock.
