Have someone who drinks coffee (or caffeine in general) quit cold turkey. They will definitely go through withdrawl. -- nm

if it has a negative impact on people's lives (generally not), and if it's hard to quit (not so bad), then it would make sense. -- nm

I don't even drink much caffeine, but when I quit I get a horrible headache to the point of nausea at least for the first day. -- nm

Whenever I've quit caffeine I make sure to do it on a weekend because that first day is usually a lost day because I feel so bad. -- nm

Like Dano points out, coffee drinkers do have a chemical dependence, yet you don't consider them addicts. Clearly it's more than just that. (nm)
