the reason people go to AA (which is usually when given no other choice) is because they CANNOT do it alone.

and, it's a pretty common opinion that until you hit bottom, you won't even consider treatment.

My understanding (and I'll gladly admit to being mistaken if I am), is that is the foundation of AA.

I'm not saying it just cause that's what I feel. That my understanding of their process. Accepting powerless over alcohol, but understanding in mind they have a choice to overcome it.
