I don't see it as pathetic at all. I'm single by choice and often go to bars alone

Sometimes I meet people, sometimes not. I don't do it all the time, but frequently enough to make it a regular occurrence.
Putting the shoe on the other foot, I could say I find it rather pathetic that a person is so insecure that they are willing to forgo going out if they don't have someone attached at their hip.
