My understanding is, the rate of loot drops is primarily impacted by your Luck.

But also, the maps tend to be held by fairly powerful mice for that area, so just use a trap powerful enough to catch the mice, as much luck as you can without sacrificing much power to up the drop rate for the loot, and then be patient.
