she was unable to compete this year because of injuries.

She may be packing it in as far as the eligible ranks however. Her technique and confidence have all but dissembled and fallen apart. It's kind of shocking. Granted, 2006 Worlds (which she won) was an off-year for a lot of the top competitors who didn't attend the competition after the Torino games, but you rarely see a skater that young get progressively worse year after year coming off a World Championship.
