60+ thousand members of active and reserve forces are gay. I hardly think it's symbolic concern.

And the "it'll undermine morale and unit cohesion" argument is bullshit in the face of those numbers.
I very much doubt all those people have managed not to let their secret get discovered even if they've never "told" anyone. And yet the units continue to function. Never mind the dozens of other armed forces that have integrated with zero issues.
