i can see them moving to what the New Yorker does. limited content available for free over the web. unlocking everything for iPad subscribers to read just as you would read an issue that you paid for on the newsstand or had delivered to your home

Subscriptions are already available for Kindle (and I would guess Nook as well) for many magazines and newspapers -- (link)
