In response to "I think the article linked earlier (by Beaker?) should be encouraging, too." by the wrong element, bad guy

I read it and I hold my judgement on that one for two reasons:

1) It's easy to say that up front. Three or four years out will be the earliest to determine if any real difference was made.

2) In today's day and age, does shoe-leather, boots-on-the-ground, scouting really give that significant of an edge anymore? Most top prospects are seen and seen and seen again along their development and there just aren't as many "mystery zones" where gems could be plucked ala the Jays and scouting in Peurto Rico in the 70's and 80's.

All the teams are scouting something fierce. Agents of good players make sure they get seen. Hell, you have prospects with dozens of You Tube clips availible to be seen online. I'm just not sure how much more of an edge an extra dozen scouts give you unless they are clairvoyant and can pick prospects that pan out at an 80% clip or better.
