The point is, this test/procedure to test brain alertness, and general ability to answer yes or no questions didn't exist heretofore.

Now that it does exist, it behooves people with even a semblance of care for what the wishes of a patient are, to perform this test on all vegetative patients. To deny that this changes anything is dangerous ideological wishful thinking.
