Docs work 24 hours, mostly residents. Sometimes nurses will but it's much more rare.

No one's supposed to work 24 hrs. but you do what you have to do to make sure there's enough staff.

I've been picked up in an ambulance on it's way to my hospital in a storm. Trains were shut down and walking there would have taken hours.
