Since it says "share this link," I'm hoping that works. In case it doesn't, c&p inside:

You asked: Will adding/connecting a tivo to our Directv dvr allow us to watch a show through our Directv receiver while recording one on the tivo?
Second question: we have one receiver (no dvr) in our upstairs "bonus" room which rarely gets used. Is there any way to set up a tivo on that tv and then playing them back on another tv?
Answer: No, sorry, the TiVo can't help you there - you're limited by the DirecTV line, which only supplies one program at a time through theirsatellite signal decoder.
Re. the second question: absolutely you can! You just need to be able to connect the TiVo's to your home network - you can either do this through WiFi (using the TiVo WiFi adapter) or you could use PowerLine Ethernet adapters (see HomePlug), which give you Ethernet over you power lines (see http://www.homeplug.org/home for more info). That's assuming your house isn't already wired up for Ethernet... ;]
