I think a GREAT visual look (not filming technique) would be like Sky Captain had. With the interesting color palette and certain pops of color.
Note: I am NOT in favor of doing the whole thing CGI, just borrowing the color scheme.
I think seeing the Red Skull and Cap popping with bright colors agianst a more restrained pallete would be cool.
