There's an Olympics Operations Center in Bellingham, Washington, just over the border from Canada and 30 minutes from Vancouver.

NBC Nightly News - a few nights ago - implied (although never said directly) that it was part of the official Olympics apparatus, maybe even the command center for security in Vancouver. They *did* say that forces were ready to be deployed (to Canada?) should they be needed.
Firstly, the official Olympics committee in Vancouver has nothing to do with this operations center. This operations center is purposed entirely to deal with the expected massive traffic that will be crossing the border.
Secondly, to suggest that Canada somehow needs U.S. forces poised at the border - ready to invade - is insulting. I hope this was some misinterpretation by NBC producers and not in fact reality.
