He is trying to appease to save himself IMO. I think that he has gone with the wrong story. He should be telling her that he found that idol while looking for it on exile and not that Marcus gave it to him. The Marcus story can be checked out when she is voted out and Corrine can stew on it until the end should Bob get that far.
