he was only concerned about helping himself through it all; he was beside himself with his life leaving him and being torn apart as a lab experiment...not the fact he was now a sub-human imo.
He punches out the dad, as soon as he's told he can't fixed immediately. It was all about him for the vast majority of the movie. It wasn't about him helping these prawns now that he was one of them; it was helping himself so he wouldn't be killed as a lab rat.
That it's South African and such makes it so much easier to draw the racial parallels that I don't think were served as fully in the movie as many feel they were.
