punched the dad becuase he wasn't going to be saved in a manner timely enough for him.
He'd started his transformation overhearing he was going to be dismembered. I never once got the feeling he was risking his life becuase he knew how 'they' were treated. He knew full well how he was treated and didn't wanna be lab-ratted as had nearly happened to him.
