In response to "I believe there's a difference between Olympic sports and other sports like car racing. Olympic sports should define an Olympian as" by CrankYanker

My favourite olympic sport is Biathalon. It mixes the overall athleticism of skiing, with the precision required for target shooting.

The sports you're dissing have a far greater emphasis on the precision aspect - drafting, cornering, sudden balance shifts (and believe me, sudden balance changes DO require a high level of fitness, at those speeds), and overall time shaving via constant practice.

But, as I said with the fitness required for precision balance, there is still a component of physical fitness and exertion required. It's wrong to dismiss them outright just because their legs aren't jelly at the end.
