I hate how my hands smell after cutting onions. Does anyone else have that problem, or a solution to it?

Washing them seems insufficient. Unless maybe it's a timing thing.

Dip your fingers in gasoline and set them on fire to burn off the onion residue.

Red onions are great fresh (on salad or sandwich). I would never intentionally use them in most sauteed cooking applications, though. -- nm

Because their flavor is milder, they lose their effect when cooked. I have used them in a pinch, though. -- nm
