lemons are also great to clean regular pots and pans (not the non stick amatuer stuff) with some salt
if I'm chopping a couple onions I use a butcher's chopper (looks like an axe) cleaver that it
if I"m chopping a huge pile of onions, I'll hack into quarters and drop into a food processor, like for my 'famous' onion soup that is so thick its like liquid beef jerky
