you might want to keep her away from Precious, but A Serious Man is pretty tame.

or at least the first 2/3 is. I watched it on about hour 27 of the plane ride home and fell asleep for the last third.
Precious is very dark subject matter (incest, rape, fun stuff like that), but it's dealt with in a fairly lighthearted, almost comic way.
