It strikes me as a real "meet in the middle" type situation: she needs to understand that there is a way to drink with someone who isn't drinking...

and he needs to not have a zero tolerance stance on it. Honestly, in his shoes, I probably couldn't handle hanging out as the sober one with what I'm imagining her 24 yr old girlfriends to be like either. But there are things we could do where her drinking wouldn't affect me in the slightest.
