And NBC truly, truly does suck.

What really bugs me is that there aren't more "first down line -- nm

" type enhancements to the broadcast. Like, for example, in long track speed skating, they added the pace line of where the leader was....

I did see that a couple of times in the downhill. I think they`re through the shot so fast that it`s tough to maintain. -- nm

Yeah, it's not like swimming where there's one camera panning right-to-left and back again. There are probably dozens of cameras on a downhill run. -- nm

I wish they'd put a camera on a zipline or something and follow them down the mountain, with a ghost skier representing the leader on camera.

They showed a ghost race for the men's downhill (CTV) of the gold and silver dudes. It was pretty sweet to see how differently they took turns, etc. -- nm

They've had that here too. They just don't have the ability to do it live. -- nm

Aye, it would take a lot and might even make the race too distracting. -- nm

Ah, I haven't seen that yet then, I guess. Hopefully it's on my Tivo. -- nm

Yeah, they did it in the swimming, but I wonder if that's more that they had line of sight laser locations

They've been doing overhead shots for snowboarding. I imagine the sheer speed of the downhill races is a problem.

That may be the problem. But you could put a tracker on the skiers themselves so friggin easily... -- nm

Why would they innovate? NBC has locked up rights for like 15 years+. Hell, they won rights well before anyone else was even thinking of bidding on

Something absurd like that. You'd think given how much they spent; they'd listen when things are brought up repeatedly
