I guess my thinking is that most lobbying/influence is done by contributing to the incumbent's campaign fund, right?

Ergo, no campaign to contribute to, that's one less channel for those dirty evil corporations and special interests to work their way into the system.
Will money always find a way to influence the system? Sure. But this might at least help the situation.
But more importantly, a constant turnover of personnel in the representative class would ensure that our reps are really "in touch" with what the citizenry really think and want and need. No more isolating 'beltway bubble'.
