Because you can't point to Bob and say "he didn't get fired directly because of the stimulus" but you can point to Sue and say "she lost her job

The best argumenmt you can make is "jobs that would have been lost weren't."
Which is true. Quite a few were. But you can't point to very many specific individuals who are still working because the stimulus saved their jobs. The stimulus wasn't specific like that. It was broad based and had an impact on millions of jobs.
