And him doing a bad job of selling it is worth criticism. But *not* trying to sell it would be a bigger mistake.

OTOH, I don't know what you would do to sell the public right now, who are basically just unfocused anger. "Are these idiots getting louder or dumber" has never seemed so apropos.
