I decided the jackets made them look like scare-crows.

The jackets look like they have a waterproof micro-fleece outer layer, then at least a 500 fill down insulating/middle layer. Under that is probably some nice silk-wool (with a bit of spandex)long johns. The big puffy bottoms look to he made of the very same stuff. I couldn't tell with the men, but the women snowboarders looked to have padding around the butt and on the knees. I love it that they tried to make the pants look like faded jeans but that train already pulled out of the station. We know. We ALL know, so Nike, don't try to pull off the fake next time. Go for original.
IMO, the USA team looks pretty spiffy this year. Ralph Lauren designed all the "fashion" chothes like the gorgeous fisherman style sweaters, jackets, and pants that the team wore opening night. Nike designed all their high performance competition and practice wear. They look a gazallion times better than the JC Penny year.
