Can someone tell me in what ways curling isn't like bocce and/or shuffleboard

as far as a competitive sport?
I just have this image of retired Canadians playing curling at their retirement homes

Strong sweeping can change the ice temperature by 2-4 degrees and that takes a lot of work.

plenty of retired people DO curl. it's a tiny bit more physically involved, the rocks are heavy, the sweeping is only in curling, but it's not
