Huh, just doing the math there.....the Cubs 8 & 17 closing kick...they woulda needed to go 17 & 8 to beat the Mets.

oddly, that 17 & 8 woulda been a little better than they'd performed all season long. And they woulda finished 101 & 61.

A .613 winning percentage when they were 84 & 53... and they woulda needed a .680 winning rate to beat the Mets.

If they played their normal .613 that season, they still lose by a game. That woulda been 1993 Giants-like.
