It's a very good book and one of my all time top 20. Dennis Lehane (the guy who wrote "Gone Baby Gone") wrote it.

When I finished Shutter Island, the first thing I thought was, "how in the world are they ever going to make this into a movie? I just know somebody is going to try." Then I heard Scorsese was doing it and figured he'd do all right. I haven't seen it yet but I already know all the twists, and I'm thinking some smart, quirky young director willing to dig down into the book and totally get into the charactor's heads.
