Lost in roll, because I know you care

With no power, I decide to kill the few remaining daylight hours and do some window shopping at the nearest mall. Having also not eaten anything hot in the last 48 hours or so (I had made a salad (WHO AM I?) Friday morning before losing power and going to work) I stop at the Taco Bell nearby. It's on the right side of the road in a very busy commercial area.

To get back home after eating, I need to make a left turn. As I said, this road is very busy, and there are 2 lanes in each direction. Where I'm turning, there is not a traffic light. Left turns are not illegal, but of course not recommended. I've made this turn a bunch of times, though.

After sitting there for about a minute, an SUV in the nearest lane to me stops and waves me forward. So I go. I'm only looking to my right as I assumed that it was clear coming from the left. I accelerate and WHAM, I hit the passenger door of a car in the 2nd lane dead on.

I get out, completely freaked that I've hurt someone. It's a guy and a girl, early 20's, I'm like "oh my god, i'm so sorry, i'm so sorry!" They're ok (as am I), and the only damage was a deeply dented passenger door. My front bumper is in multiple pieces on the road.

A cop must have been on the road because he was there in less than a minute, and he stopped traffic so we could, move the cars. After the cop did his thing, they drove away, I had my car towed back home, as I don't really have a body shop and my parents (also no power) were at a hotel about an hour away (the closest vacancy).

Checking it out the next day, it drives fine, though I'm probably going to get pulled over at some point before I'm able to get it fixed.
