I would never keep a player whose salary is that close to 50 bucks.

Of course, I'd love him. All I'm saying is you might get him again at auction for less than $49. -- nm

the year before he was on your team I think for $41, I got him for $44, which is about the same as the contract price for $45 if you kept him. -- nm

You might. You might not. It's a situation where you'd want to be comfortable with the league's bidding history. -- nm

(I guarantee he won't go for substantially less than $45, so the savings opportunity is minimal.) -- nm

The goal of an auction league is to find players to outperform their price tag. At $49, even Pujols has nearly no ability to do so. -- nm

This is true, but their price tag alters once people release their keepers. He can outperform that number in draft day price. -- nm

50 bucks is still 50 bucks, regardless of when you spend it. nm -- nm

Again, this isn't true in the leagues I play. But if it's true in this league, then its a different consideration. -- nm

And you might wind up paying $10 more. Take the bird in the hand and ignore the people trying to game you, tru. -- nm

I think the highest price any player has gone for in the history of the auction is $50 or $51.
