ST, help me to make a travel decision please.

This seems like such a trivial decision, but I'm really having trouble with it.
I have to be in Switerland for work on Monday 3/22. Work starts at noon. (The rub: I don't know for certain where I need to be in Switzerland).
I have to book travel now. I'm booking to Zurich, and flying direct from Austin/SXSW. I'll be leaving on Sunday 3/21 (leaving on 3/20 is not an option, as I'll be at SXSW)
I'll be flying out of notoriously delayed JFK to Zurich. To get to JFK, I have two options:
1. Option 1 leaves Austin at 9:40am, connect in Chicago, and has tighter connections, meaning I have less leeway for things to go wrong and still make it it Switzerland in time.
2. Option 2 leaves Austin at 7:00am, connects in Austin, and has padded layovers, to allow for problems.
THE "DILEMMA" (this is silly, I promise):
I will be out at SXSW until around 2am Sunday morning, which means I'm not getting much sleep before the flight. I'm leaning toward the 7am, but that means two hours sleep. The 9am flight would allow be about four hours sleep, but would cause me stress if somethings goes wrong (as it sometimes does with travel)
What would you do? (Other than stop being such a nervous fool)

At 2 or 4 hours sleep as the differential I'd take the earlier flight. You can try to sleep on the plane. -- nm
