Democracy is an exercise in assured epic fail, at least in Canada.

One party gets into power, holds it, and moves the country in their "direction". Then there's an election, and they either get to continue moving in that "direction", or someone else gets to change the direction.

But that someone generally only gets to win and change the direction if the previous direction has resulted in disaster.

So, it's doomed to be an endless cycle of disasters and aimless wandering.

One thing I like about Canada is that no matter how bad things get, we can always opt to just boot everyone out of office and become a monarchy again.
