Okay, I just read the Palin article. Two things:

1) The inconsistency is bad - but only if she was in fact referring to the same incident. While I absolutely believe she would have no problem fibbing to make her audience respond to her, I also believe it's entirely likely it could be two seperate incidents and that the critics are the ones projecting them to be the same.

2) We're talking about trips in the 60's when she was growing up? I think it's pretty safe to say that the medical systems in both countries were in a much different place at that time compared to today. Are we really saying this is an "A-ha!" moment here?
