So, this is why Rahim Jaffer got off practically scot-free yesterday. TorStar reports that the rookie cop screwed up.

The cop conducted an improper strip search and the Crown didn't think that the evidence would hold up. But if they did the strip search because they found coke before that, then the drug charges should have been able to hold, because the search wouldn't have kyboshed it.
Which means the more likely story is that the cop did the strip search w/o sufficent reason, and only then found the coke, which threw out the drug charges.
I'm also told thru the Tory grapevine that while Rahim was speeding in the vehicle (and the reason he was pulled over and got a $500 fine), he was not drunk as first charged (which is likely why that charge got dropped) and that would jive with the TorStar's report that the cop went out of bounds.
