A couple of combat tactics notes for FF13 players...

If you hit the Y button prior to your gauge being filled, you can do a quick hit of sorts. This is particularly useful for opponents who have almost nothing left in their health bars. You can kill them before they re-attack.
Also, the B button allows for the canceling of a prior command. We've found that helpful when we kill one monster and want to select a new target. The game is lackluster at determining the biggest threat in these situations.
