i think it's inevitable. i don't think it takes anything away from the charm of the original, which is kind of saccharine and fake compared to my understanding of the world of the books
they'll probably (wisely) steer clear of doing another musical but still fuck it all up in the end with all effects and no story
(Return to Oz was great even if nobody saw it)
