That's not something I can answer. Only God knows his heart. And I don't believe that the end of our earthly life is the end

eternity isn't a stop, it is a forever journey. So those that have miserably failed their entire lives are very much apart from God, even in the beginning of their repentance. They have much work to do in eternity to come closer to God.
