A really good thing is when they start dropping off things you didn't order, or refill your wine glass without it being on the bill.

A lot of restaurants do this for their regulars, or at least they did in San Fran. I'd eat at the White Horse on Sutter a couple times a month, Order dinner and a glass of wine, they'd drop a soup down along with the salad, they'd refill the glass of wine. sometimes an appetizer or a dessert.
of course I tipped nicely too
