Which is why I'm stunned that it's an article becuase this is entirely the way these decisions are made

they couch it in such terms that St Louis would consider a deal if a...b...c...and d all happen which, honestly if St Louis wasn't willing to consider trading Pujols under any circumstances; their GM is failing. Is it likely, hell no. Is it even unlikely, probably not. It's a one-in-a-thousand chance, but it could come to pass that this would be the best way to help St Louis going forward.
