(Switching a Blue to a for-profit company is tricky, tricky stuff.)

Some states have (probably correctly) agreed to let a Blue go for-profit... provided they pay back the value of their non-profit status as a lump sum to the state going back, say 3 or 4 decades. That tends to end the negotiations quickly.

I don't believe we've ever tried to be anything but non-profit, however.
