Rock's only had brief periods of supremacy in music. Usually it's pop that wins out by a lot.

If you look at a lot of the stuff we liked during that period, only very little of it charted well.
And of late, music has splintered so much that its hard for anything to get traction. That said I'll take The Arkells, for example, 50 times over before Kings of Leon.
