HP will allow some customization on their site, but not to the degree of Dell. You may be looking for too much if you want a desktop replacement, tho.

If you don't want to be anchored to your desk, you may end up putting so much into your laptop that it's going to be heavy and run really hot and battery life is going to suck. Since I got my little laptop, I find myself using my desktop very little. It doesn't have the horsepower of my desktop, but I know that if I need to do monster things, my monster is still there when I need it.

So aim low. Don't look for a huge screen. It'll be sitting on your lap most of the time, anyway. Don't get a huge hard drive. Get lots of RAM and a solid, efficient, processor.
