It sounds like what's happened is that all your lifetime of expectations has focused itself into the realities and the vagaries of life today.
It sounds perfectly normal. You are not alone in this experience. At all.
My advice is worth exactly what you paid for it: take the high road in all things. When you look back on this period, you'll be glad that you did.
Count on your own survival skills in life. Loving people 'where they are' is easier than expecting any more from people than they can actually produce.
There are some people whom you need to 'love at a distance' for a while, and maybe forever.
