might be a diabetic and losses sensation in the feet. They walk and the feet bluster but they don't feel it. So they continue to walk. Infection occurs. Flesh dies. This takes a while, not an overnight thing.

Look up dry gangrene if you like.

Look up Necrotizing Fasciitis. This is an overnight thing. Pretty crazy.
