I'm pretty tech-unsavvy, although I consider myself a fast learner.

I'm strongly against Blogger now as because they have ceased support for FTP, they have a greater control of your content. -- nm

I think it has an export feature, too, so if you ever outgrow the featureset - or need custom code or somesuch - you can head to an independent server -- nm
