why I'm, on about tipping today: On Saturday I write a check for over $15,000 to the company that moves my stuff to Illinois. I've been told (not by

the company) that a tip for the crew will be in order.

WTF? I just dropped FIFTEEN GRAND on you guys. If you aren't getting your fair share that sure as hell ain't MY fault.

I'm less concerned with the tipping system in restaurants precisely because the wages are lower. I think it'd be better if the wages were higher and the tipping done away with.

But it's getting to the point where people not making that slave wage are expecting a tip just for doing their jobs. *THAT* is what irks me.

I consistently refused tips when in retail. My *job* was to help the customer. If I do a great job they tell others and I get more business. Sticking my hand out would be an insult to the customer and to myself.
